May 12 2010- Sox come up a litte short
Ahhhh, Fenway Park. Well here I was the first game at Fenway Park in the 2010 season. First thing I noticed when I got to section 29 row 11 seat 4- Frickin pole in my way blocking my view of home plate. (Lucky the two people that had seats 1,2 did not show up, that problem solved) On to the game. The pitching matchup is Shawn Marcum vs Sox knuckleball pitcher Tim Wakfield. Wake got off to a great start, retiring the first 8 batters he faced. Great moment in the 4th inning, Wake struck out Toronto rf Vernon Well for his 2000th strikeout. It ended the inning and the crowd of 37,198 gave Tim Wakefield a great standing ovation. Wake came out of the dugout and tipped is cap to the Fenway faithful.
With the score 1-0 Toronto in the 7th Wakefield gave up a 2 run homerun to Travis Snyder. Going to the bottom of the ninth Sox started a rally. After Victor Martinez struck out, Kevin Youkilis singled, JD Drew doubled (Youk scored). Next up David Ortiz already had 2 hits in the game struck out on a very questionable call by home plate umpire Dale Scott. With 2 out Adrian Beltre single to score Drew. That make the score 3-2. With tying run on first Darnell McDonald stepped up for a chance to win the game. But it was not ment to be as he popped to second base to end the game.
Next Up: Sox at Philly
