And so it begins!!!

Well it's almost here!
Only a few more days until another baseball season. Also only less than two weeks until the Sea Dogs home opener at Hadlock Field. One thing is for sure it gonna be cold. Well lets look ahead to the 2011 season. Here are my predictions for the upcoming season.
American League
East- Boston
-Strong starting pitching Lester, Buchholz, Lackey, Beckett, Dice K and the addition of Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford.
Central- Minnesota
-Always a contender. Probley led by one the best managers in the game Ron Gardenhire. Chicago with with additon of Adam Dunn will come up a little short.
West- Oakland
-Strong starting pitching and bullpen, question is will they have enough offense? Defending AL champs Texas will not be a major contenter with no ace in the staff.
Wild Card- Los Angeles Angles
-Veteran team, (Torri Hunter, Jered Weaver...) Will the #4,5 starters be conistant this season (Joel Pinero, Scott Kazmir)
Pennent- Boston
National League
East- Philadelphia
- Best starting staff at least in the last 25 years...(Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, Hammels, Blanton) 4- 20 game winners? Only question for philly is how will there offense hold up? If Chase Utley need season ending surgery will be a problem
Centeral- Milwuakee Brewers
-With the addiition of Zach Grenicke and Shawn Marcum this gives the Brew-crew a solid 1-2 punch in the rotation. With Prince Fielder in a contract season he should have a strong year to lead the offense. Cinci will have a good year but not good enough. Cardinals without Adam Wainright to lead the staff will make it very tough for them. The Cubbies wait another year.
West- Colorado
-With a strong pitching staff and offense should be keys in the Rockies winning the west this year.
Pennent- Philadelphia
World Series Winner (drum roll please..........)
Boston Red Sox

Spring Training Has Arrived!

March 4, 2011,
Well it's all started up again. Spring Training is here, even though it read 5 degrees below zero this morning. The Sox are down in Florida. I am happy to say that I have purchased tickets for 3 trips to Fenway Park this year. They are Monday April 18 (Patriots Day-11am start) vs Toronto, Wednesday June 1st (1:30pm start) vs Chicago White Sox and finally Saturday August 12th for the "Futures at Fenway" doubleheader. The first game is Binghamton vs Portland Sea Dogs then right after that game the AAA afiliate Pawtucket Red Sox play.
Now according my watch today is March 4th. What am I getting at you might be wondering... Just a month and a few days (April 7th 6pm) the Portland Sea Dogs open their 2011 season at Hadlock Field. Now seeing how just a week or two ago they measured 18 inches of snow at home plate at Hadlock Field. Lets hope things warm up real fast. One player that is looking like will start in Portland is infielder Oscar Tejada. This is a player that has been around in the minors for a few years in the Sox organization. Last seasons at single A Salem he it .307 with 11 homers. Based on his career in the minors so far he's a very raw player with good bat but defense could use some work. Kinda reminds me of a little of former Sox prospect Hanley Ramirez. But wheather there is room for him in Boston in the near future remains to be seen.

So baseball is coming. There is more to come!
