Wolves drop the Dogs

Sea Dogs vs Sea Wolves, June 17 2010 - Hadlock Field
Well it was another first for me at Hadlock Field. But lets not get ahead of ourselfs. On the night that the Celtics lost to the Lakers in the finals (Damn Koby Bryant) the Sea Dogs took on the Erie Sea Wolves. Jeremey Kehrt was the starter for Portland this night. He never really got into a good groove on the mound. In 5 innings of work he gave up 4 runs on 4 hits. Meanwhile Brooks Brown who was the starter for Erie was in complete control for the whole game. That righthander pitched a nine inning complete game victory. Probley the first I've ever seen in the minor league level. Brown pitched 9 innings giving up just 5 hits on one run.

Dogs drop game 2

June 5, 2010- Portland vs Reading Phillies - doubleheader game 2
Well after a thunderstorm in between games at Hadlock the Sea Dogs played the Phillies in game two of the doubleheader. Portland got on the board first in the first inning. After a walk to Ryan Khoury, Anthony Rizzo doubled to score Khoury. Next batter Yamico Navarro then singled in Rizzo. Dogs took a quick 2-0 lead. Bottom the third inning Portland scored twice again to take a 4-0 lead. But the lead did not last. Reading came back to beat Portland 8-4 in extra innings. I did not see that. I left after the 5th inning. With the rain in between games it was getting very late. But a great day for baseball.

Casey Kelly earns first win

June 5, 2010 vs Reading Phillies(Game 1 of a doubleheader)
Portland righthander Casey Kelly earned his first victory for his aa career. The 1st round 2009 draft pick pitched 6 shutout innings giving up just 4 hits. He pitched around the strike zone mixing up his pitches. The only Reading batter to get a extra base hit was Tuffy Gosewisch when in the 3rd inning he hit a double to right-center.
The Portland bats had a good game too. In the second inning after a single and a error thirdbaseman Ray Chang belted a solo homerun to left-center into the netting below the scoreboard. Portland added another homerun in the 5th when firstbaseman Anothony Rizzo cracked one over the right field fence. In the end of game one of the doubleheader Portland won 6-0.
