Patriots Day at Fenway

Well the first game at Fenway for me this year took place at 11am this monday morning. It was a picture perfect day at the 'ol ballpark. The Sox opponent today was the Toronto Blue Jays. Pitching for the Sox is right hander Daisuke Matsuzaka. (AKA Dice K) Matsuzaka going into this game through 2 starts was winless in both starts and an ugly 12.86 era. Givin' the Sox struggles to start the 2011 season this was a big outing for Dice K. Now I got to the ball park real early. (about 9am to be exact) so I had lots of time to roam around. Went up and saw and sat in the "red seat". Funny never been up there before in all my trips to Fenway. So anyway's on to the game. Sox got going in the 1st inning after and leadoff triple by JD Drew a walk to Pedroia, then later another walk to Ortiz Jed Lowrie slashed an opposite field single to give the Sox a 2-0 lead. Sox added another one in the third when David Ortiz singled in Kevin Youkilis who doubled off the very top of the rightfield bullpen fence. After 3 innings 3-0 Sox. Meanwhile Dice K who allowing a single to Jose Bautista in the first was on cruise control. In 7 innings pitched for Dice K he only allowed 2 base runners. A single to Bautista in the 1st and a walk to Travis Snyder in the 2nd. Sox piled on more runs in the 5th inning when Jed Lowire hit a homerun to make it 5-0. In the 6th Kevin Youkilis hit a homer into the bullpen to make it 7-0. Sox added one more in the 6th to make it 8-0. In the 7th inning the Sox got one more on a Jacoby Ellsbury homer to make it 9-0 Sox. Alfredo Aceves and Tim Wakefield pitched the 8th and 9th innings. Toronto got one run in the 9th on a homer by Yunel Escobar. So a great day at Fenway lots of hitting and great pitching. Great 9-1 win at Fenway Park.
Next up: April 28 back at Hadlock
