2011 Opening Day at Hadlock






April 7 2011 - Reading at Portland
Well 213 days have passed since the last game was played at Hadlock Field. After a long, long winter it was finally time to play ball. On the mound pitching for the Dogs was right-hander Alex Wilson. Wilson who did have some strong outings a year ago. But this year will be the test for him if he is major league material. He started off strong in the first two innings. In the first after a two single by Phillies Harold Garcia he was caught stealing in a attempt of stealing second. Dogs got on the board in the bottom of the second when Chih-Hsien Chiang doubled then was singled in when Will Middlebrooks drove him in. Reading got two runs in the top of the third Freddy Galvis drove in two runs that made the score 2-1. In the bottom of the inning after a leadoff single by Ryan Dent, Alex Hassan lined a single to tie the game. Dogs would take the lead in the 4th when Tim Federowicz singled to drive in Chiang. (Chiang went 3-3 with a walk) In the 5th the Dogs would take the lead for good after a leadoff triple in the rightfield corner by Che-Hsuen Lin, Alex hit a sac fly to give the Sea Dogs the lead. After 5 strong innings by Alex Wilson Seth Garrison pitched a scoreless 6th and 7th innings. In the 8th the Sea Dogs manager Kevin Boles brought in Blake Maxwell. He went on to pitch the 8th and 9th innings to preserve the win for the Dogs. Dogs are now 1-0 and have more wins than the Red Sox.

  1. I've got an idea..send the whole Sea Dog team up to the bigs..and send the Sox to Portland..can't do any worse!
